Join us for an unforgettable evening of intrigue, indulgence, and irresistible storytelling as we mark the 300th anniversary of Giacomo Casanova’s birth with a masked dinner hosted by Ian Kelly, acclaimed biographer of the legendary libertine himself.



Over a sumptuous two-course dinner, Ian will take us behind the mask of the man who has captivated imaginations for centuries—lover, spy, author, philosopher, and social climber. Drawing from his riveting and critically acclaimed biography, Ian unravels the real Casanova: a man as complex as he was charismatic.



This decadent evening also celebrates the launch of Lynne Russell’s new show, The Painted Carnival, which will premiere on the Roof Terrace following the dinner—an artistic spectacle of colour, character, and carnival, inspired by Casanova’s flamboyant world.



Guests are invited to wear masks in honour of the Venetian tradition. Mysterious identities, candlelit conversation, and a feast for all the senses await.

      While the tour by Dr Green was very well presented and interesting, the little scenes in between were incredibly poorly planned and rehearsed, to comical effect, but below expectations at this price point. We were also expecting more than one small cup of hot chocolate halfway through the freezing cold tour, as the ticket cost of £35 is definitely on the high side for a packed group like this. We still enjoyed the tour itself, but expected a lot more.

      It pains me to give A Curious Invitation such a low review as I normally like their events but this one did not deliver what it promised. There was a lot of just standing around in the freezing cold and only one singular cup of hot chocolate per person. The music mentioned in the description was nowhere to be found. While Dr Green was a good host with lots of interesting facts, I think visiting the locations in this weather didn't add much to the experience as it was waaaay too cold to be standing around watching the performances. It seemed poorly planned and not properly thought out.
